    1.      Support healthy eating with portion control

    Cannabis legalisation in North America

Canada legalises cannabis in October 2018

In October this year Canada became the second country after Uruguay, and the first G20 country to legalise cannabis.  This came about as part of an election pledge of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Cannabis was legalised to enable the government to fulfil three goals.

    1. They want to control usage of the drug amongst minors.  An example of one of the measures put in place for limiting access to young people is that it will now incur a jail sentence of up to 14 years if found selling cannabis products to minors.
    2. In order to reduce the burden on the legal system.
    3. To remove the control from the illegal drugs market.  This in turn will have a positive knock-on effect on the amount of tax legalizing cannabis could raise

Accuracy & Precision: The story of the cross-bow and the apple

We recently watched a fascinating TED Ed talk by Matt Anticole on YouTube about the difference between accuracy and precision.  Matt uses an analogy of the legend of William Tell, the Swiss folk hero.

William Tell was an expert marksman with a crossbow who was arrested with his son when he refused to be respectful to the King.  The King said that both he and his son would be executed, but then he King told William Tell he could save his son’s life if he shot through an apple placed on top of his son’s head.  In the legend William Tell is able to shoot the apple and save his son’s life.

The talk considers two alternative scenarios.

  4. Making Accurate Weight Measurements

    Making Accurate Weight Measurements

    Weighing The World

Scales are used everyday throughout the world in a wide range of industries. From the raw material used in the products around us, to the food that we buy at the grocery store - almost everything around us was weighed using a scale at some point.

Scales and other measuring devices come in a wide range of accuracy classes. For instance, most deli scales are accurate to only a few grams while a diamond or jewellry scale is typically accurate to a few milligrams (0.003g). For food portion use, a deli scale measures weight accurately enough to make your sandwiches, but if you had to measure something like gold or platinum, you would want to use a jewellry scale.

    Measurement Accuracy

But how do you know if the scale you are using is accurate? If you check the various clocks around you, you might notice they don’t all agree with each other, with some more accurate than others. Th

  5. Top 3 Things To Look For When Purchasing A Digital Scale

Need to purchase a high quality digital pocket scale? Selecting the right scale for your application is critical. Below we outline the top three things to look for when making your decision:

    1. Capacity & Readability

With a wide range of scales on the market, choosing the right scale can be a daunting task.  The first and most important step in selecting the right scale is to determine how much capacity (and platform size) you will need. Be sure to select a scale with enough capacity to weigh your items plus a little bit of padding for rough treatment. The second part will be to determine how small of a change in weight you want to be able to display, also known as the scale's readability. The readability on scales typically gets better as you go down in capacity, so choose a scale that has enough capacity for your application, but not too much.

    2. Features

Scales are available with a wide range of features to help with
